| Both steel and polyethylene have their advantages! Steel is the tried-and-true material in constructing snowplow moldboards. It’s strong. It’s durable. It performs well under most conditions. Meyer® steel moldboards feature state-of-the-art powder coating. This exclusive paint formula is designed to withstand severe weather conditions and to eliminate wet snow from sticking and clogging the plow.
Polyethylene is fast becoming the preferred moldboard construction material among professionals. It’s tougher than steel. It’s more resistant to harsh abuse. It’ll never rust or need painting. Polyethylene also remains strong in temperatures as low as 100 degrees below zero! Meyer® plows dramatically improve snow-rolling action and fuel economy by using a high-molecular-density polyethylene material that reduces friction. |

All Meyer plows have a built in safety feature that protects the plow when striking an obstruction. There are two main styles of “tripping” action and your preference will determine which style of plow you need.
FULL-TRIP When striking an obstruction, the entire moldboard flips forward on the Meyer Full-Trip moldboards to provide the highest degree of protection from hidden road obstructions. Once the obstruction is cleared, the moldboard returns to the normal plowing position. The full-trip moldboard is a reliable and simple way to protect snowplow hardware, vehicle components and—most importantly—the driver.
BOTTOM-TRIP Rather than the entire moldboard flipping forward on impact, bottom-trip moldboards are designed so that when objects are struck at ground level, only the lower portion gives way while the rigid moldboard system keeps the blade upright and performing. The instant the obstacle is cleared, the bottom-trip returns to its normal plowing position - so you can keep plowing without losing the entire load. The bottom-trip technology provides the durability, ruggedness and performance that plow professionals need – attributes that have been warmly embraced everywhere the demands (and elements) are the harshest and most severe. |
